Swimming is adopted for various reasons according to the choices and preferences of different people. The most common reasons to adopt swimming are sports, recreation, and as an exercise. The most important strokes in swimming are front crawl, breast stroke, back stroke and butterfly stroke. The least regulated stroke is the front crawl which consisted basically of kicking the legs upwards or downward. The arms are rotated in a windmill’s fan motion to swim forward in water. The head is turned to the side for breathing as the arm is pulled out of the water. Try to breathe once in the complete cycle of two arm movements in windmill style.

Butterfly stroke is the most difficult among all the strokes of swimming. In this the body of the swimmer is floated in water like a butterfly flying in air. Kick with high stamina when the head is underwater and then bringing the arms and hands out and then perform a small kick.
